Associate Professor Tom Heidtke Retires

Tom Heidtke, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, retired in May 2010 after teaching in the College of Engineering for 29 years.

Heidtke’s research interest – Great Lakes Basin water resource and quality – stemmed from a passion for protecting the environment he held dear since he was a young boy fishing with his father. That passion translated to his teaching and reflected in the popularity he enjoyed with engineering students.

Snehamay Khasnabis retired at the end of the winter 2010 semester after 35 years of service as professor, chairperson, and associate dean. He plans to spend more time with family, including his six grandchildren.

The College of Engineering community laments the loss of Donald Vernon Stocker, professor emeritus and director of the Wayne State University Division of Engineering Technology from 1981 to 1987. Stocker passed away May 19, 2010, at the age of 83. Stocker was the third director of the Engineering Technology Division, which was created in 1972. Chris Eamon joined the civil engineering faculty in fall 2010 as an associate professor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Wisconsin, a master’s degree in architecture and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Michigan. His specialty is structural engineering. During pursuit of his college education, Eamon worked several years in architecture and engineering firms in Wisconsin and Southeast Michigan.
